Camogie

The TY girls are taking part in camogie training for an hour a week every Wednesday. A trainer from the AIT: Lizzie Flynn, comes into the school to take a training session.
A few words by Lizzie, our trainer:
As part of T.Y 2012-2013 in Athlone Community Collegethe girls in the programme have taken up camogie. The Camogie Foundation Course is currently being rolled out. The Camogie Foundation Coachiing Course is an accredited course developed with Coaching Ireland and launched in March 2009. It is an up to date coaching resource that will help w#equip these students with camogie skills, knowledge and confidence to deliver coaching to young camogie players. To date the studemnts have learned the basic skills of the game and have the oppurtunity to coach the other students in their class.
After the mid-term break they will coach 1st an 2nd year students during a designated day in their school. The students will then coach these players and assist in their participation in a one day blitz.
After Christmas will get further trained up as they will prepare to coach primary school children in local schools.
